During the field visit, Mita Nur Afifah had the opportunity to visit Kasumi Medical Campus to see how technology is used for people with disabilities. Another place that was also visited was Momiji Factory, where people with disabilities are empowered to work and create.
Regarding the theme of religion and peace study, participants had the opportunity to learn more about Japan through its history and culture. As a history education student, a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Museum was a very memorable experience. This place displays collections that show how bad the impact of World War II was on Japan. The collection in the museum includes items left by the victims, photographs, paintings, as well as objects damaged by the atomic bomb. Meanwhile, at Miyajima temple, participants were introduced to the beliefs held by Japanese people. This place is a sacred site which is believed to be the place where the gods and goddesses descended.
This summer school campus Asia program not only develops cross-cultural skills needed in the current era of globalization, but also develops awareness of the importance of creating a society that is inclusive and tolerant of differences.
