Upperclassmen and Underclassmen

He finished his education (1939) before Sjafruddin Prawiranegera was directly interested in national movement activities. However, through reading materials (books and newspapers), lectures, and discussions with his friends, Sjafruddin followed and observed the activities and developments of the national movement. Sjafruddin studied in depth the teachings of Democracy, Socialism, and Communism, which strongly opposed the teachings of Capitalism, which was the basis of Colonialism. Sjafruddin paid attention to and expressed admiration and sympathy for Sutan Sjahrir, his senior at AMS, in his attitudes and views regarding the national movement. But once again, he was interested in something other than directly getting involved in national activities.
