There are exciting things about being a member of the City Council in Pekalongan. Oto Iskandar di Nata (The Jalak Harupat) is famous as someone who dares to defend the truth. Therefore, he and his two friends from BU, Darmosoegito and Kartosoebroto and Fadhol from the Indonesian Islamic Union Party, were among the people the Dutch East Indies Government blocked. This means that if something happens in Pekalongan, they are the ones who must be responsible. The four people were considered so dangerous that every time they held a meeting, they were constantly spied on by the PID (Politieke Inlichtingen Dienst) or the Dutch East Indies Secret Police at that time.
Once, Oto Iskandar was in Nata, and his three friends held a meeting supervised by a PID member. Then, the PID members were all invited to participate. He just realized that the meeting held by Oto Iskandar in Nata and his friends was discussing the interests of the community, not personal interests, let alone inciting the people as was usually accused. Since then, the PID member has quit his job and joined BU.
