Abdul Muis is a famous writer called the Balai Pustaka Force, and this is because Balai Pustaka published several of his works during the national movement. Abdul Muis has a reputation that needs to be considered from the start of writing a work. Starting from his thoughts, the romance book Salah Asuhan (1928) was born, which was very famous in its time (Ricklefs, 2008: 413). Apart from Salah Asuhan, there is another work, Surapati (1943), which tells how hard and difficult it was and the actions of Untung Surapati’s struggle against the Dutch Company. Abdul Muis has a background as a journalist and has worked for several newspapers such as Preanger Bode, Bintang Indies, Kaum Muda, and Neraca.
